About Savarah

The meaning behind the name and logo:

The name “savarah” is a combination of two root words that each have profound meanings in Sanskrit. “Sava” means life or essence, and “vara” means gift—so together the word “savarah” loosely translates to “life is a gift.” The word “studio” was added because this is a creative workspace.

The logo involves multiple symbols, each holding a powerful meaning:

Mountains: the mountains symbolize an incredibly strong foundation, rooted in a mighty power that is unshakeable. They also represent abundance, and remind us to continue to dream while remaining anchored in that which grounds us.

Arrow: Arrows represent sharp vision and focus, and the ability to aim (decide where you want to go), and shoot (execute your goals and make your vision a reality). In order to do this you need courage, and so arrows also represent bravery (not the absence of fear, but the strength to move forward in the midst of it).

Sun rising: The sun represents light and creation, and the rising sun specifically shows us that each day is an opportunity for a new beginning. Life is forgiving and if you’re still here, that means you still have a shot at making today a better day.

Outer circle: Circles symbolize harmony in motion, and a more feminine approach to life—using creativity and intuition to guide your path, and exploring the freedom that it brings.

Dots & broken circle pattern: The dots in the outer circle make a pattern that is imperfect, some could even say flawed. The intention behind this studio space is to embrace the seeming imperfections and see them as a work of art—to see it all as beautifully flawed, and in no need of change.

The purpose of this platform:

I created Savarah Studio because I feel it is my soul-aligned passion. It's the result of the years I spent trying to find my way in this world while denying my inner yearning to express myself fully.

I used to be in hiding—in complete and total fear of what would happen if I stepped out into the world as my authentic self (someone who doesn't really fit the mold, who has a unique way of thinking, and who walks to the beat of her own drum).

I lived for others for a really long time, and I lived the way I thought the world wanted me to. In fact, I thought that was the only way to live.

But after years of struggle, working hard just to survive, I came to a point where I was completely burnt out—depressed, angry, disconnected, and honestly ready to give up entirely.

At my lowest point, I found I had two options…either continue down this torturous road of self-abandonment, or surrender

So... I chose me. The real me, and I think I chose wisely.

Now I practice self-love and connection daily, and not only has it brought so much light and peace into my life, it really has just transformed everything.

It is my joy and honor to share my journey with the world, because when your cup is full, it naturally overflows.

Who am I?

My name is Sarah Shannon, and I am an artist, writer, and content creator. Originally from Maine, I have been living on the island of Maui, Hawaii for the past 10 years. When I am not working on creative projects, I am usually at the ocean, adventuring in nature, playing with my dogs, or spending quality time with my partner and loved ones.

On the side, I work as a hiking waterfall tour guide—my sense of wonder and excitement with the natural world around me never ceases, and it is a continual source of inspiration.

My approach:

I have a slow and intentional approach, and I want to make content that is heart-aligned  and experienced based. I pour everything I am into what I create, and it fulfills me to receive ideas, downloads, and inspiration and then channel it into some sort of art.

I love writing and creating, and I want to uplift others—as someone who is on her own journey, simply sharing her experiences and lessons learned along the way. Above all, I want my audience to know that anything I share is 100% open to interpretation—so always feel free to take what resonates and leave the rest.

A closing note from me:

If you’re feeling lost, disconnected, depressed, alone, or overwhelmed by life and don’t know which way to go, you’re in the right place.

The aim is to always bring you back to your inner guidance system, to awaken that voice within you and help you connect with yourself again.

When you trust yourself, your whole life shifts, and suddenly the world seems a little brighter—more loving, more safe, and more clear.

No matter where you are, you can always find your way back home.

- Sarah
